TikTok Download Quality Explained: HD, 1080p and MP4
Downloader sites throw around HD, 1080p, 4K and MP4 conversion. Here is what TikTok actually stores, what you can really get out of it, and which claims to ignore.

How to get the highest-quality version of a TikTok
What HD means for a TikTok download
TikTok keeps several versions of every upload and picks one for you at playback time based on your connection and device. The best version is usually 1080×1920 at 30 fps, though it depends on what the creator uploaded — a video filmed and exported at 720p will never have a genuine 1080p version, no matter which downloader you use.
An HD download simply means asking for that best version rather than the smallest one that happens to load fastest.
Be sceptical of tools that claim 4K
No downloader can add detail that was never captured. A tool advertising 4K TikTok downloads is either stretching a 1080p picture to a larger size — which makes the file bigger and slightly softer, not sharper — or simply mislabelling the result.
The honest ceiling is the original file: TikTok's own best version, passed through without re-encoding so no detail is lost on the way to your device.
TikTok videos are already MP4 — no conversion needed
TikTok stores its videos as MP4 files using H.264 video and AAC audio, the most widely supported combination there is. That is why a TikTok download plays in QuickTime, Windows Media Player, VLC, Premiere Pro, DaVinci Resolve, CapCut, iMovie and every modern browser without extra codecs.
So a "TikTok to MP4 converter" has nothing to convert. Any tool that does re-process the file is costing you a generation of quality: compression throws away information it cannot get back. Passing the original through untouched is both better and faster.
